What is the newest firnware for MS6D?
in our company we use MS6D for temperature monitoring and logging. Currently the SW status of the device is as follows:
Measuring engine 6.4.00
Ethernet version 6-5-1-7.2216
Web version 1.8
Are there some updates available(where?)? How to update? What are the differences if there is a newer version?
I was asked to develop some custom LabVIEW application that will communicate with the monitoring system (most probably only read out values), and I just want to be sure, that I work with the newest version (to avoid some "bad things" if somebody decides to upgrade the MS6D firmware later on...).

Hi,
Firmware version mentioned above are current versions. Firmware update are not necessary.
For reading current values is easiest way use Ethernet and one of this communication protocol: SNMP, XML, Modbus TCP or SOAP
To get values from device memory is recommended to use Comet Database software and read data from SQL DB.
BTW ... if you want you can ask questions by Czech/Slovak language

I found some info on that there is a possibility to get the communication protocol for the device (e.g. via Ethernet and on request). How hard would it be to do memory download (historical values)? Is it some binary thing, or ASCII? Could I get info about it? From the aspect of the whole system it would be maybe better if the download would happen directly from LabVIEW - the top level application could run on RT OS target (e.g. cRIO) and it also needs to communicate with servo drivers... If the communication protocol implementation would be too time consuming, we could use the Comet Database SW, and overcome the Windows stability by using some other tweaks, or use it at least on a Win server version.
Currently there is just a Win7 PC with your SW and auto-download set up + manual data export and processing (pairing with the data from the servo drivers and some crop/mean/window functions).
No problem - what is the preferred language? will use that in the corresponding thread...

Hi,
If you want description of communication protocol please send request to support@cometsystem.com. For communication with MS6 device is used ours proprietary binary protocol. Because MS6 device is very complex device this protocol is very complex and not easy to implementation. I afraid that whole protocol implementation can be very time consuming. For this moment we haven't available communication library (component) for easy integration into 3rd party system.
I think better will be communicate your objectives and requirements by email. You can use email above. Please describe your requirements, and we will try find easiest way.
And about preferred language... our company is located at Roznov pod Radhostem and almost employees are Czechs. From this reason is a Czech or Slovak preferred.
